Venue : Puthenpura Tourist Enclave, Cheepunkal, is a tourist venue facing lake Vembanad at the side of the River Pennarthodu, a branch of River Meenachil. It is one of the most enchanting tourist spots in "God`s Own land". It is just 900 meters West of Kumarakom-Vaikom road at Cheepunkal, just a km North of the  Kumarakom Bird 

Sanctuary/Coconut Lagoon and 2 Kms. south of Thanneermukkom bund. A panoramic vision of the lake, famous island strips of Pathiramanal and Puthenkayal and the continuous breeze add to the exhilarating experiences. If there is a paradise on earth, it is here!

Boating: Motor boats and speed boats are available for hire at affordable rates. One can have fishing using hooks or nets, rowing in country rafts, swimming or water skating in lake etc.

Average seat capacity per motor boat is 30 inside and 15 chairs on the deck. Boats will pick the tourists from or drop them at Ernakulam, Thanneermukkom, Vechoor, Pathiramanal, Kumarakom, Kottayam, Alleppey, R-block, Kollam, etc.
Motor boats can be hired per hour / per day. The serene enjoyable boat trip takes one to Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, Pathiramanal, Thannermukkom saline water barrier, Vechoor kayal, R-block or to anywhere in and around the lake Vembanad. One can indeed get rejuvenated after a boat ride.

Speed boat journey over the waters is an exhilarating experience. Maximum capacity is 4 per speed boat. The rent is calculated per hour.

House boat travel or stay also is arranged on request.

The State Government of Kerala has approved the Home Stay Units in Puthenpura Tourist Enclave. Bath attached double bed rooms are available. A hall also will be provided for guests. Rest and relaxation in cozy couches soothened by the lake breeze on the bank of vembanad is unforgettable. Night stay could also be arranged in boats in the lake.

Meals are arranged according to your tastes with lake fishes like Karimeen, prawn, crab, lobster and the like. They are cooked in the special traditional Kerala style whose taste lasts for hours. Cooked in pure coconut oil, with the right mix of spices, Kerala fish curry is quite demanding. Water birds are also deliciously prepared and served on the table. Both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes together with a variety of fresh water fish dishes are quite enjoyable.

Snacks and cold drinks are available. Tender coconuts are the specialty of the area for drinking. Fresh coconut toddy is also available for light drinking.

Water sports : Cheepunkal is the best venue for holidays and tours. Swimming, rowing in country rafts, fishing with hooks or nets, water skating etc. are the holiday attractions. One cannot afford to miss these means of relaxation.
